Troubleshooting
Powering on and off your Scion music server
The Pink Faun Scion is built for continuous 24/7 operation. There is no switch to disconnect the Pink Faun Scion completely from the grid. In our experience, adding such switch into the power supply of the Scion has a negative effect on the device's musicality. If you want to disconnect the Scion completely from the grid because of bad weather or when traveling, just disconnect the power cord from the back of the Scion, making sure that it is in low power mode beforehand. You can recognize this mode by the faded LED in the front panel.
When power is connected
After connecting the power cable for the first time, the LED on the front will flash a couple times. During this period, the power supply is charging the capacitors, it also indicates that the power supply control unit in the power supply is checking the incoming voltage and all outgoing voltages. When there’s something wrong, the Scion will enter safe mode to protect the sensitive parts inside from damage.
- When the Scion server enters safe mode, the LED will begin flashing a code that indicates where the problem is. More about safe mode can be read in the troubleshooting section of this manual.
Powering up
After the initial heat-up, the Scion automatically goes into low power mode and can be started by briefly pressing the power button once. The power button is in the center of the front panel. The Scion server begins the startup sequence when the LED change from faded into bright.
Complete startup is finished when 2.16 ultra is visible through the Roon Remote application under its serial number identification.
- Complete startup is finished when Scion is visible through the Roon Remote application under its serial number identification.
Powering down
Powering down the Scion can be done by briefly pressing the power button on the front once, or by using the remote interface of the Scion. Shutdown is complete after a couple of minutes, when the Scion returns to low power mode. During powering down, the Scion server is making a backup of the system. Depending on the size of the Roon library this can take several minutes.
- Please be patient while the Scion server performs the backup procedure before entering low power mode.
Resetting your Scion music server
In case of any issues, the Scion can be reset by pressing and holding the power button for 6 seconds until it shuts down immediately to low power mode.
Please be careful when using the reset option. If it takes longer than normal for the music server to shut down, don’t use the reset option for at least 10 minutes to give the Scion server an opportunity to resolve any possible issues on its own.
- In the unfortunate situation where you must reset the Scion server, it is strongly recommended to disconnect the power cable for at least 10 seconds before restarting the music server.
