Pink Faun OS is our proprietary digital playback platform, developed entirely in-house to unlock the full potential of our music servers and streamers.
At Pink Faun, we believe exceptional digital audio reproduction can only be achieved when hardware and software are developed as a single, integrated system. For this reason, we chose to move beyond third-party operating systems and create our own platform, specifically engineered for musical performance.
By controlling every aspect of the software environment—from the operating system itself to the network stack, audio engine and dedicated drivers—we can continuously optimize performance, rapidly introduce new features and provide direct support to our customers. Most importantly, Pink Faun OS enables a level of hardware and software integration that would otherwise be impossible, allowing every Pink Faun product to perform at its highest level.
Digital audio playback is about more than processing data correctly. The way data moves through a system, the amount of background activity and the interaction between software and hardware all influence the final musical result. Pink Faun OS is designed according to a simple principle: only what is necessary for music playback should be active.
By minimizing system overhead and eliminating unnecessary processes, Pink Faun OS reduces processor load, lowers electrical noise and creates an exceptionally stable playback environment. The result is a platform that allows the hardware to focus entirely on reproducing music with maximum realism, timing accuracy and emotional engagement.

A key advantage of Pink Faun OS is our ability to develop and maintain dedicated in-house drivers. Our custom network, input and output drivers are specifically written for the hardware platforms used in Pink Faun products. Unlike generic drivers, they are optimized to control and route data with maximum efficiency while minimizing system activity.
This direct control over the complete signal path allows us to continuously refine performance and extract the highest possible level of musicality from our hardware. In products such as the 2.16 ultra and 2.16 ultra dual, Pink Faun OS also includes dedicated software optimization for each individual output Bridge. USB, S/PDIF, I²S, ProISL and CH-link outputs are each treated as unique playback paths and tuned accordingly to maximize performance.
Within the 2.16 ultra dual, Pink Faun OS additionally employs a proprietary communication protocol between the Server Unit and Renderer Unit. Developed specifically for audio playback, this protocol is optimized for timing accuracy, packet size and transmission speed, ensuring both units operate in perfect synchronization while minimizing processing overhead.
Pink Faun OS provides a highly optimized environment for modern music playback. As one of the original Roon Core Server Partners, Pink Faun has extensive experience integrating Roon into dedicated audio hardware. Pink Faun OS delivers a seamless and highly responsive Roon experience while maintaining the sonic performance expected from a dedicated Pink Faun source component. In addition, Pink Faun OS supports Qobuz Connect on the Scion, allowing direct playback from the Qobuz application while preserving the musical integrity of the Pink Faun platform.
As the platform continues to evolve, new functionality and streaming technologies can be integrated quickly through our in-house development team.
Because Pink Faun OS is developed entirely in-house, software updates, feature development, performance improvements and customer support remain under direct Pink Faun control.
This allows us to innovate faster, respond more effectively to customer feedback and continuously refine the performance of every Pink Faun music server and streamer.
