The Minion is our top of the line tube line and RIAA pre amplifier. It is a fully dual mono tube pre amplifier including a MM phono RIAA stage, which can be upgraded to MC input using Tribute amorpheous cobalt step transformers. The pre amplifier uses 5842 tubes with Tribute Single ended amorpheous output transformers as line stage and the EC91 and PC900 tubes CCS loaded, buffered by a FET stage as RIAA pre amplifier. The level is controlled by a Tribute 24 step amorpheous core autoformer attenuator.

The Minion also can be delivered as standalone line pre amplifier, or stand alone phono pre amplifier. The pre amplifier draws 70 mA at 260V (for example more than a 2A3 single ended power amplifier), because of the output tranformers use it can deliver a lot of power and drive.

The RIAA stage tubes are loaded with CCS and heater supply is VCCS stabilised. The pre amplifier has a seperate power supply chassis to minimize any hum or noise.

All parts are specially selected for best performance. The Minion uses low ESR capacitors in the power supply, Black Gate FK for decoupling and Sprague Vitamin Q coupling capacitors. Resistors are Allen Bradley, matched and paralelled for higher precision and low noise. Inside the pre amplifier the PCB is mounted on a birch plywood subchassis on rubber dampers to minimize influences of vibrations of the chassis.
