The Fettle is a transistor pre amplifier. It uses a very special selected militairy JFET, which is biased and used like a tube, in exactly the same circuitry. This is also the reason why it plays like a tube pre amplifier, only with the power and precision of a transistor amplifier, the best of both worlds. Very precise and open, strong mids and bass, and no harshness at all.

The Fettle pre amplifier has a MM RIAA phono stage, which can be upgraded to MC input with a Tribure Amorpheous cobalt step up transformers. The Fettle also can be delivered as standalone line pre amplifier, or as stand alone phono pre amplifier.

The pre amplifier contains only 6 parts each channel, it does not use any feedback. These parts are specially selected for best performance. The power supply are batteries. It has beaten a lot of tube pre amplifiers already and opened the eyes of some real tube lovers in blind tests. The Fettle uses paper in oil capacitors in the power supply, Black Gate FK for decoupling and silver mica and Sprague Vitamin Q coupling capacitors. Resistors are Allen Bradley, matched and paralelled for higher precision and low noise. Inside the pre amplifier the PCB is mounted on a birch plywood subchassis on rubber dampers to minimize influences of vibrations of the chassis. PCB is used as a standoff, parts are mounted point to point as much as possible.

"The newcomer from the Netherlands is a hardcore look at audio, because it uses the simplest ways with most expensive tools, like NOS capacitors, resistors and transistors. Fabulous as a gramophone preamplifier its battery powered double box setup puts emphasis on something called “musicality” by some people, and just splendid sound by others."
